Make over time

Shhh, don't tell Ken but when he get's home tonight I am surprising him with a make over in his garage. He has scouts tonight and they are working in the garage. I really hope they all like how "he" has decorated his man spot.

I provided before and after pictures so you all can see what a difference a table cloth and a few accessories can make on just a plain ugly work bench.

Maci's Pillow

Ken was out of town last week and I need a project to do at night while I sat around and ate chocolate and watched chick flicks. So I decided to make a pillow for Maci's room. I found several pieces of fabric that matches the colors and I picked out 5 different fabrics and two different netting materials to make several circles of different size's and fabric's.
I traced the bottom of jars, candles sticks and cups to get the right circles for each layer.
Then layered all the different circles on top of each other with the netting between some of the circles. I also put a button on top of each circle and and hand stitched around the pillow with purple thread.

Maci is just like her momma and thinks you can never, never have too many pillows.

Grandma came to Texas!

I have the Best Mother in Law in the world!!! A few weeks ago Marjean came to visit us. We had such a good time laughing, playing, shopping at Sam Moons (a highlight of the visit for me) letting the girls ditch school and go to the Zoo. We had so much fun with Grandma that when is was time for her to get on the plane to go home, the tears from all of us were coming. She really is the best! We love you so much and can't wait till the next visit.

(Mom I have not forgotten I will send you pictures)

Fix and SOLD!

Don't you just love this $20.00 find. It has been the biggest pain to fix up. The drawers would not even open and it must have had at least 6 coats of petobismo pink paint on it. But with tons of heavy duty sanding, new knobs and a fresh coast of paint......CHA CHING!

Ellie's Rockin Party

Ellie Lynn turned 6 and we partied!!! We had a rock-in good time. So lately Ellie is boy crazy over Justin Bieber and that is all she wanted to do for her Birthday is have everything JB. I am not sure if we could of handled everything JB so we did a Rock Star theme as well and invited him to join us for the celebration. The girls had such a good time and enjoyed every minute of it.

My totally talented friend Valerie made the Rock Star Cake, so yummy!

Ken collected Ellie's favorite rock songs and put them onto a Cd for the girls to take home and listen to.
I tried to get Ken to dress up as Justin but no such luck so we splurged and got him in cardboard instead.

Each of the girls decorated a guitar with glitter stickers and rhinestones. They were a perfect craft for them to do and gave us a break from dancing.

We have "lets dance" on the Wii and the girls loved to turn it up and show us their best dance moves, I have to say Ellie can shake her booty really good.
We had such a great time and feel so blessed that Ellie has such good friends here. I was completely exhausted when the party was over but worth every minute of it.

Fort Worth Rodeo

Back in January Ken won tickets to the Fort Worth Rodeo through a local radio station. The girls were so excited they were counting down the days until we could go. Finally the day arrives with a HUGE Dallas snow storm. Now we have lived in Utah and Colorado where we are not strangers to snow, but let me tell you... when it snows in Dallas EVERYTHING SHUTS DOWN! The ice on the roads are so bad you can't drive anywhere, the girls had like no school forever and we all had cabin fever. So with a prayer before we left we headed south for what usally is a 20 minute drive down town.
Our street when we left, now under that freshly fallen snow is inches of ice. Our house sits up at the top of a slight hill and we sat and watched car after car try to get out of our street (anything to do to pass the time).
The front of our house.
While driving around Fort Worth we found this beautiful church, I had to take pictures of it. Presley thought it was a Temple.

The Rodeo had a petting zoo in the frezzing tempiture, we were only out there for two minutes and then we could feel our legs so it was time to head on inside.

So By the looks of the arena when we got there Ken had rented out the whole place just for our family. When we handed our tickets in the lady said we can pick any seat we would like to sit and don't worry about our assigned seats. So What do you do in an emplty arean while waiting for the show??
You make the kids run up and down the stairs until they are tired.
Then you make them sit really still for pictures.
Why not, go ahead stand on the chairs Ellie. Not like anyone is going to stop you.

Once the Rodeo did start we had a great time and loved the show. They actually did a really good job considering their audience was ... well the Sorensen Family.

Ellie turns 6!

Everyone who knows Ellie knows that she beats to her own drum and is so spunky and full of life. She is the most independent self reliant little six year old you will ever meet. She can easily make friends with everyone and carry on a conversation all on her own, she tells you honestly what she thinks and it is usually her way or there is not a way at all. She is also a big tender heart and loves her family more than anything. She is the first to wake up in the mornings and loves to crawl into our bed and snuggle with her daddy. A typical morning at our house will include Ellie coming into our room and telling us "It's morning time, the sun is up"... and then it is quickly followed by "What are we doing today, I hope it is something fun". She is always looking for an adventure and where there is anything fun Ellie will be there and be there first.

Ellie we love you so much. You are getting so big and we are super proud of you and so blessed to have you in our family.

Happy Birthday Ellie Lynn!!!!

Fix and keep or Fix and sell?

I found this antique dresser the other day on Craigslist and $30.00 later Ken went to go pick it up on his lunch break (he is just amazingly supportive of my decorating habits). So my first thought was of course to fix it up and sell, you know the drill... fix it and turn it around for a profit so I can go out and buy more of other peoples crap to put in our house (hahaha). Anyways the more I was working on it the more I am falling in love with it. Now I know what you are thinking "she so does not need another dresser in the house" but after some thought I am thinking of turning it into a jewelry holder, a giant jewelry dresser. Have Ken line the drawers with velvet or something and a quick trip (just an excuse) to Anthropology for some new knobs and wallah, I have a new item in my house.

Maci turned 10!!!

Maci hit DOUBLE DIGITS! Oh dear, I can't believe I have a 10 year old. She got totally spoiled and got just what she has been begging for...an iPod. Grandma and Grandpa Meador took her on a shopping spree and bought the whole store at Gap (Maci's favorite clothing store) and Grandma and Grandpa bought her a purple docking station (her favorite color) for her new I pod. Along with iTunes GC, books, and Wii games I think the girl was totally happy.

Happy Birthday Maci- We love you so much!!

Thanksgiving 2010

I think I should put up Thanksgiving pictures before I post Christmas, and now that I am finally going through Thanksgiving I wish I would have taken more pictures- Ugh!
We had a great time Kens parents got to come and visit and stay the week with us, we had just barely gotten over Strep throat so the first few days we were all a little under the weather. Once our Antibiotics kicked in we were ready to play. We had such a good time watching movies, going to the movies (we saw Mega Mind) playing at the park down the street and eating, eating and more eating. I was a tad bit lazy when it came to Thanksgiving dinner, I did not bust out my China and pretty centerpieces, instead I opted for paper plates and I have to tell you this may become a new tradition in our house, they looked good and less washing (I know, I don't do paper plates but I gotta tell you I have bought more since that week). Dinner was a hit! Did I mention we ate and ate? Ken did the turkey and it was so good, here comes where I wish I had more pictures because I only took a picture of the turkey. So as far as you can tell that is all we had just turkey, plain turkey- not so, we had homemade green bean casserole (not from soup), spinach salad, monkey bread, grandpa's yummy stuffing and macaroni and cheese (homemade with a oh so yummy topping). Like I said we have no pictures to prove it so I guess we just had turkey.
We also got to see some of my side of the family for a few hours one day and loved seeing them. Overall it was a great week and we loved having Grandma and Grandpa Sorensen come stay with us!!
